Sonar, Barcelona 2011… Off Sonar calling! Dieses Jahr sind wir dem Ruf gefolgt und haben unsere Trollies gepackt. Eigentlich war geplant, daß wir alle zusammen fliegen. Aber nichteinmal &ME kann auf zwei Hochzeiten gleichzeitig tanzen und Rampa steht mehr auf Portugiesische Feinkost als auf Käsesandwhiches undsoweiter… also waren wir zu dritt, Adam, Julia und ich, von Donnerstag Nachmittag bis Montag Abend.

Man hatte uns ja gewarnt. Das Erlebnis eines erschreckend dreisten aber glücklicherweise vereitelten Laptoptaschenklaus im Zugabteil nebenan auf dem Weg vom Flughafen in die Stadt haben wir mal als Warnschuss hingenommen und sind mit einem dennoch guten Gefühl weitergefahren. Nach der Ankunft im Appartement mitten in der Altstadt von Barrio Gótico, mit lockeren 10 Minuten Fußweg zum Strand von Barceloneta, gab es dann auch nur noch wenig, worüber man sich hätte beschweren können. Es hat sich nur am ersten Abend schon gezeigt, dass man in Barcelona besser nicht allzu spät hungrig sein sollte, wenn man sich nicht auskennt. Zwar weiss ich jetzt nichtmehr wie das genügen konnte, aber bis auf die extra empfohlenen Pizza am Abend vor unserer Abreise haben wir fünf Tage lang praktisch nichts gegessen ausser Sandwhiches mit Queso Manchego. Nemrut sei an dieser Stelle für die Aufnahme in sein Kebab House und sein stammgastfreundliches Herz gedankt.

Auf dem Programm Standen natürlich unüberschaubar viele Off Parys. Mitgenommen haben wir davon ganz entspannt nach unserem Geschmack und endeten auf einigen der besten. Auf dem East Ender gabs erstmal Desolat mit tINI (check ;), Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich .live! u.v.m., nebenan die Moonharbour & Hideout Bühne u.a. mit Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace und Martinez. Dann die Watergate & Whatpeopleplay Party mit Soulclap, Tiefschwarz, youANDme, Lee Curtiss u.v.m. als Highlight. Am Samstag hat Adam bei unseren Homies von der Techno Taverna mit Ptoile auf dem Barcelona Center Rooftop gespielt, am Sonntag drauf waren wir nochmal mit der ganzen Griechencrew um Stassy un GummiHz am Strand. Zwischendurch gabs natürlich noch den Sprung ins Salzwasser, Sightwalking und spanische Schokolade. Das Wochenende hat zwar einige Quadratcentimeter Studioblasse Haut und ein bisschen Elektrolyte gekostet. Aber genau das wird der Grund für unsere fest beschlossene Rückkehr sein.

Sonar, Barcelona 2011… Off Sonar calling! This year we responded and packet our trolleys. First we had thought of going all together. But not even &ME is capable of being in several places at once, and Rampa prefers portuguese food instead of cheese sandwhiches and so on… That’s why there was the three of us, Adam, Julia and me, from Thursday to Monday.

We had been warned. On the train from the BCN airport we whitnessed an attempted but luckily prevented theft of a fellow travellers laptopbag right next to us. We decided to take it as a warning shot and continued our journey with a more or less good feeling. After the arrival at our apartment in the middle of the old town Barrio Gótico, with a walking distance of no more than ten minutes to the Barceloneta beach, there wasn’t much left to complain about. It only showed already on the first night that one should not become too hungry in Barcelona without being street-smart. Thinking back I can’t figure out how it worked, but except for the pizza we had on the last night before leaving, we actually spent five days eating nothing but manchego sandwhiches. At this point we would thank Nemrut for frequently having us at his Kebab House and taking us into his hospitable heart.

Of course the schedule was stuffed with an unmanageable amount of off partys. Relaxedly we picked out a few of those matching our taste and effectively had some of the best. At the East Ender we heard Desolat with tINI (check ;), Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich .live! and many more, next door to the Moonharbour & Hideout stage, e.g. with Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace and Martinez. Then there was the Watergate & Whatpeopleplay party with Soulclap, Tiefschwarz, youANDme, Lee Curtiss and many more, which became a highlight. On Saturday Adam played with our homies of Techno Taverna and Ptoile on the Barcelona Center rooftop and again with the greek crew around Stassy and GummiHz at the beach on Sunday. In between there was time for jumping into the salty water, sightwalking and eating spanish chocolate. The weekend may have cost a few square centimetres of studioblanched skin and some electrolyte… But that will be the exact reason for our return.
