Nach dem gloreichen Start im Luna Club ging es am Samstag fast ohne Schlaf auf in die beste Hansestadt. Zunächst musste aber Till am Flughafen abgesetzt werden, was sich als schwieriger als erwartet rausstellte. Nachdem er nämlich fluchtartig das Auto am Terminal verlassen hat, um seinen Flieger zu bekommen, befand sich leider kein Seetauglicher Steuermann mehr an Board. Zum Glück ging es zu Europcar nur bergab und das hat die Karre dann auch fast von alleine geschafft. Die Ballsaal Crew hat wieder keine Kosten und Mühen gescheut und uns in einem geschichtsträchtigen Apartment untergebracht, welches wir leider nur kurz nutzen konnten. Rampa hats dort mit Powernapping versucht, während Adam noch schnell 2 EPs aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt hat. Ich stand nur Kopfschütteld dazwischen und hab versucht zu stören wo ich nur konnte bis wir zum Essen und Clubspaziergang abgeholt wurden. Die Party war baalsaalmäßig grandios, die Nacht mit 30 Minuten Augen zu viel zu kurz und der Flug nach London viel zu magenunfreundlich. Mehr zur Afterhour @ Lo*Kee gibt es die Tage. After the glorious start at the Luna Club we were heading to the beloved City of Hamburg on Saturday. But first Till had to be dropped at the airport, which turned out to be harder than expected. Cause after he left the Car in front of the Terminal in order to get on his plane, there was nobody on board who was able to steer the tub. Fortunately, Europcar was just down the hill so it was “quite” easy to keep the car on track. The Baalsaal crew has again spared no expense or effort and prepared a historic apartment – but we had just little time left to use it. Rampa tried some powernapping while Adam rapidly shaked 2 EPs out of his sleeve. I just stood between them and tried to disrupt wherever I could until we were picked up for dinner and club time. The party was terrific, the night with 30 minutes of closed eyes far too short and the flight to London much to stomach unfriendly. More to the afterhour @ Lo*Kee will be shown in the next couple of days. Thanks to Benny Voigt / Voigtography for the great photos (there are a few more on his FB page). Dieser Tune bringt mich in das letzte Wochenende nach London zurück. Am Sonntag gegen 14 Uhr sind &ME, Rampa und Adam aus Hamburg eingetrudelt. Ich war schon einen Tag vorher da, hatte mit unserem Freund und Gastgeber Sebastian am Samstag abend im Cafe 1001 aufgelegt und sogar ein paar Stunden geschlafen. Im Gegensatz zu den anderen drei, die bis zur Lo*Kee Afterhour am Sonntag Nachmittag zwei Tage komplett ohne Pause durchgemacht hatten. Jedenfalls war das erstmal ein ziemlich müder, aber dennoch motivierter Haufen, der da in Sebis Wohnzimmer abgehangen ist, bevor es mit dem Taxi zum Frühstück ging. Dieser kleine Soundtrack zum Moment zwischendurch ist eigentlich ein Tuesday Tune zum selber machen, denn nachdem Adam eine erste Platte aus Sebs Plattenregal auf 33 rpm und -8 gespielt hatte gab es bis zu unserer Abreise am Dienstag auch für alle Folgenden keine Ausnahme. Wer also die Scheibe zuhause hat kann das ja gleich mal ausprobieren. Warm up, pitch it down…

This tune brings me back to our last weekend in London. On Sunday &ME, Rampa and Adam arrived from Hamburg at around 2 pm. I was there from the day before, having played at Cafe 1001 with our friend and host Sebastian on Saturday night and even had a few hours of sleep. This did not apply to the other three, who had continued without a proper break for two days up to the Lo*Kee afterhour on Sunday afternoon. So it was a tired but also motivated lot hanging out at Seb’s place, waiting for the cab to go and have breakfast. Actually, this little soundtrack, which accompanied a few such moments in between, is a do it yourself- Tuesday Tune. After Adam had randomly picked the first record out of Seb’s shelf and played it on 33 rpm and -8, there were no exceptions made until we left back to Berlin on Tuesday. Those who’ve got that record at home may just try it out right away. Warm up, pitch it down…

Also wenn das kein gelungener Wochenendauftakt war, dann weiß ich auch nicht. Till Von Sein aka Sebastian Vettel hat uns letzten Freitag mit entspannten 220 km/h sicher nach Kiel katapultiert, um uns im Luna Club spielen zu lassen. Essen gabs wie immer in dem leckeren Restaurant, von dem ich den Namen ständig vergesse und nach einer Ruhephase mit “Training Day” ging es dann runter in den Club zu Helle und seiner Crew. Stimmung war super – keiner bis auf einer weiß mehr, was eigentlich den ganzen Abend passiert ist und nach einer erholsamen Stunde Schlaf ging es dann weiter nach Hamburg City. Now if that wasn’t a felicitous lead-up to the weekend. On Friday Till Von Sein aka Sebastian Vettel safely slingshot us to Kiel with relaxed 220 km/h, where we were to play at Luna Club. As always food was taken at the tasty restaurant I keep forgetting the name of, and after a short break with “Training Day” we me met Helle and his crew at the club downstairs. The spirits were high – Nobody except one remembers what happened that night, and after a recreative hour of sleep we travelled on to Hamburg city. How that did end will show on this blog in the following days.

Es ist natürlich mittlerweile etwas zu spät, How To Dress Well als den heißen Scheiß zu verkaufen. Das Album ist seit ein paar Monaten draußen, die Blogs haben das Thema bereits zur Genüge durchgekaut. Trotzdem: Ich höre momentan nichts häufiger als sein “Love Remains”-Album. Es sei auf diese Weise auch noch einmal darauf hingewiesen, dass in den Tagen, in denen die gesamte Musikpresse in Ohnmacht zu fallen scheint, sobald jemand den Namen James Blake fallen lässt, das hier die weitaus interessantere und tiefere Variante von atmosphärischer und experimenteller Soulmusik ist.

Im gerade erst ausklingenden Wochenende waren mal wieder die Lo*Kee Jungs und Mädels aus London in der Stadt, wie immer konnte ich das noch Tage später in meinen Knochen spüren – dabei hatte es schon das Wochenende davor in sich. Eine Nacht und einen Tag lang wurde in der Wilden Renate auf jedem verfügbaren Quadratzentimeter gefeiert. Gespielt haben ich und Adam zusammen von 12 bis um 6 – dank aller teilnehmenden, es hat so richtig Bock gemacht! Danach blieb auch für uns noch genügend Zeit, um den Zauberwald auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Auf den insgesamt vier Floors ging die Party teilweise bis in die Sonntagsnacht weiter und auch der “Jungbrunnen” hat bis in den späten Nachmittag nicht aufgehört zu sprudeln…

Last Weekend the boys and girls of Lo*Kee from London were in town again, and as always I could still feel it in my bones for days – although the weekend before that already did have the whole package. One night and one day there was partying at Wilde Renate on every square of a centimeter. Me and Adam played from 12 to 6 – thanks to everybody around, it was a blast! Afterwards there was enough time for us left to explore the magic forest by ourselves. On altogether four floors the party went on late into Sunday night, and the “fountain of youth” kept bubbling all along…
