Wie es geschah, kann ich schon gar nicht mehr rekonstruieren, aber plötzlich fand ich mich gestern, in der Mittagspause, in einem Gedankenaustausch über Gunter Gabriel wieder. Das ließ mich dann den ganzen Tag nicht los und ich musste einfach nach Jahren mal wieder diesen Adolf Noise aka DJ Koze-Edit rausholen. Ein wunderschöner, ein ewiger Klassiker.

Dieser Tune bringt mich in das letzte Wochenende nach London zurück. Am Sonntag gegen 14 Uhr sind &ME, Rampa und Adam aus Hamburg eingetrudelt. Ich war schon einen Tag vorher da, hatte mit unserem Freund und Gastgeber Sebastian am Samstag abend im Cafe 1001 aufgelegt und sogar ein paar Stunden geschlafen. Im Gegensatz zu den anderen drei, die bis zur Lo*Kee Afterhour am Sonntag Nachmittag zwei Tage komplett ohne Pause durchgemacht hatten. Jedenfalls war das erstmal ein ziemlich müder, aber dennoch motivierter Haufen, der da in Sebis Wohnzimmer abgehangen ist, bevor es mit dem Taxi zum Frühstück ging. Dieser kleine Soundtrack zum Moment zwischendurch ist eigentlich ein Tuesday Tune zum selber machen, denn nachdem Adam eine erste Platte aus Sebs Plattenregal auf 33 rpm und -8 gespielt hatte gab es bis zu unserer Abreise am Dienstag auch für alle Folgenden keine Ausnahme. Wer also die Scheibe zuhause hat kann das ja gleich mal ausprobieren. Warm up, pitch it down…

This tune brings me back to our last weekend in London. On Sunday &ME, Rampa and Adam arrived from Hamburg at around 2 pm. I was there from the day before, having played at Cafe 1001 with our friend and host Sebastian on Saturday night and even had a few hours of sleep. This did not apply to the other three, who had continued without a proper break for two days up to the Lo*Kee afterhour on Sunday afternoon. So it was a tired but also motivated lot hanging out at Seb’s place, waiting for the cab to go and have breakfast. Actually, this little soundtrack, which accompanied a few such moments in between, is a do it yourself- Tuesday Tune. After Adam had randomly picked the first record out of Seb’s shelf and played it on 33 rpm and -8, there were no exceptions made until we left back to Berlin on Tuesday. Those who’ve got that record at home may just try it out right away. Warm up, pitch it down…

Ist schon einige Zeit her, dass die Roxy Music Remixe zum ersten mal das Licht der Welt erblickt haben. Aus irgendeinem für mich unverständlichen Grund hat es einer leider nicht bis zur Veröffentlichung geschafft. Dreamhome von Fetisch ist auf jeden fall jetzt schon ein Klassiker, den man bestimmt in fünf Jahren noch ohne groß zu überlegen spielen kann. Erinnert mich irgendwie an Sky & Sand – nur dass das Ding schon 4 Jahre früher fertig war.

Has been a while that the Roxy Music remixes were born. For some incomprehensible reason the best one was never released. In any case, Dreamhome by Fetish is already a classic, and I will not hesitate dropping this tune in five or ten years. Reminds me of Sky & Sand – only thing is that Dreamhome hit the decks four years earlier.

Es ist nicht alles Pop, was glänzt. Natürlich braucht es bei dem Thema und einer so formschönen Liebeserklärung an die gute Sonne keinen besonderen Anlass. Aber ich wurde darauf aufmerksam gemacht, daß sich ein etwas geduldigeres “Reinhören” in das dazugehörige Album vielleicht doch lohnt. Und ich bin sogar ganz froh drum!

All that glitters is not pop. Ofcourse there is no need for an occasion with such a shapely praise for the sun. But I was advised that it may pay off to have a closer and more patient listen to the corresponding album. And I’m actually glad about it!
